The main ingredients in Toplap Gel are Lidocaine and Prilocaine, which are local amide-type anesthetics utilized to numb the specific area of skin where the gel is applied.
Toplap Gel is intended for: alleviating pain related to injections; easing pain from blood sampling (drawing blood from a vein) for medical tests; reducing discomfort tied to minor surgeries (such as the removal of genital warts); and mitigating pain associated with cleaning or removing damaged skin from leg ulcers.
Lidocaine and Prilocaine act as local anesthetics that create pain-relieving effects. They both work by stabilizing neuronal membranes and providing local anesthesia by blocking the ionic fluxes necessary for generating and transmitting the nerve impulses that communicate pain to the brain.
One gram of gel dispensed from a tube measures approximately 3.5 cm. For skin prior to minor procedures (like needle insertion or small skin operations):
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: the typical dosage is 2 g. Apply the gel at least 1 hour before the procedure (unless it is used on the genitals), and do not apply it more than 5 hours in advance.
Infants aged 0-2 months: administer up to 1 g of gel on an area of skin no larger than 10 cm2, 1 hour prior to the procedure. This should only be done once within a 24-hour period. Infants aged 3-11 months: apply up to 2 g of gel to an area of skin no larger than 20 cm2, 1 hour (maximum 4 hours) before the procedure. Two doses can be given at a 12-hour interval in any 24 hours.
Children aged 1-5 years: apply up to 10 g of gel on a total skin area not exceeding 100 cm2, 1 hour (maximum 5 hours) before the procedure. Children aged 6-11 years: apply up to 20 g of gel on a total skin area not exceeding 200 cm2, 1 hour (maximum 5 hours) prior to the procedure.
For skin before the removal of wart-like lesions termed “mollusca”: the usual dose is based on the child's age and is applied for 30 to 60 minutes (30 minutes for patients with atopic dermatitis). Verify the appropriate amount with your doctor or pharmacist.
For genital skin before local anesthetic injections, this applies only to individuals over 12 years: the standard dose is 1 g of gel (1-2 g for female genital skin) for each 10 cm2 area. The gel should be covered with a dressing for 15 minutes on male genital skin and 60 minutes on female genital skin.
For genitals before minor skin surgery (such as wart removal), applicable only to individuals over 12 years: the typical dosage is 5-10 g of gel for 10 minutes without dressing. The procedure should commence immediately afterwards.
For cleaning or removal of damaged skin on leg ulcers, this is only recommended for adults under medical supervision: use 1-2 g of gel for each 10 cm2 area of skin, up to a maximum of 10 g. The gel should be applied under an airtight dressing, such as plastic wrap, for 30-60 minutes before cleaning the ulcer.
It is advised not to apply Toplap Gel to areas with skin rashes, cuts, grazes, or other open wounds (excluding leg ulcers), in or near the eyes, inside the nose, ear, or mouth, in the anus, or on the genitals of children. Use on genitals and leg ulcers should occur under the supervision of a doctor or nurse.
If treating children under 2 years of age, consult your pharmacist.
For uncertainty regarding the measured amounts of gel to apply, seek advice from your pharmacist.
Avoid exposing the treated area to extreme hot or cold temperatures (like food or beverages) until full sensation has returned.
Prevent contact between Toplap Gel and the eyes, as numbness from the gel may hinder your ability to detect foreign objects in your eye. If Toplap Gel accidentally comes into contact with the eye, rinse it immediately with lukewarm water or a saline (sodium chloride) solution.
Toplap Gel is used only as needed, so missed doses are not a concern. Do not exceed the dose recommended by your doctor. Avoid applying a double dose of Toplap Gel. If overdose occurs and you feel unwell, seek emergency medical assistance or contact your healthcare provider without delay.
Store at room temperature, not exceeding 30 degrees C (86 degrees F), away from excess moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Dispose of any unused medication past the expiration date. Keep away from children's reach.
